SportPesa Premier League clubs continue to build up for the 2017 season with a number of friendly matches lined up for the weekend.

AFC Leopards have scheduled a match against newly promoted Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in Nairobi.

Their arch rivals Gor Mahia on the other hand will face Ugandan Premier League side Onduparaka at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala in their third build up match this year.

It will provide coaches of the two glamour clubs with a good opportunity to gauge their squads that have seen a lot of new additions.

Gor Mahia have lost two preseason friendly matches so far, the first 1-0 away to Sudan’s Al Hilal followed by a 2-0 result versus Thika United at Camp Toyoyo last weekend.

Ingwe have played three games already, winning 3-0 against Embu County, 5-0 against Tetu Combined and 3-0 against Kibera Black Stars.

Coach Stewart Hall is expected to allow playing time to all his new signings who include former Mathare United defender Robinson Kamura, midfielder Whyvonne Isuza from Mathare United and Ghanaian forward Gilbert Fiamenyo.

Also expected to be on parade is former Tusker and Mathare United attacking midfielder, Kevin Kimani who joined from Jomo Cosmos, a South African top league side.

“Part of preseason training involves playing against teams that are at your level and others that may be below your level. We have been lucky to have a few of those games but we need more because the more the players stay together the better they become so everyone will get a chance to play because we are yet to select the first team,” Hall said.

On Thursday, Kakamega Homeboyz beat Nzoia Sugar 1-0 in a friendly match at Sudi Stadium with their new signing Estone Esiye providing the lone goal while Western Stima and Ulinzi Stars settled to a barren draw at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

Kariobangi Sharks and National Super League club Palos cancelled each other out 1-1at Moi Stadium.

On Friday morning, reigning champions Tusker FC came from a goal down to beat Thika United 2-1 at Thika County Stadium. Sammy Meja scored for Thika before the brewers replied with interest via Anthony Ndolo and Victor Ndinya
