Mathare United 1-2 Sofapaka (Kenyatta Stadium)
Sofapaka’s assistant captain George Maelo headed in Charles Okwemba’s free kick delivery midway through the first half.
Former Bandari man Humphrey Okoti doubled the scores for the visiting team minutes into the second half.
Sofapaka looked to be running away with the game but Tyson Otieno pulled a goal back for Mathare deep, deep in the game. Too little, too late for the slum boys who had started as the match as favourites.
Tusker 1-0 Chemelil Sugar (Afraha Stadium)
After two unsuccessful attempts, defending champions Tusker finally found their first win of the season.
Ugandan import Shaffiq Batambuze scored from the penalty spot in the 44th minute after Chemelil defender James Omino had handled the ball inside the box leaving the referee with no choice.
Western Stima 2-1 Gor Mahia (Moi Stadium)
Rwandan Jacques Tuyisenge converted his own penalty for Gor Mahia early in the first half after he had been brought down inside the danger area by his former team mate Jackson Saleh to win a spot kick award.
Stima replied in the 67th minute with a penalty of their own, drilled home by Fredrick Shimonyo, who then rounded up a fine outing for himself and Stima, nodding in his match winning second goal.
Zoo Kericho 0-2 Nakumatt (Kericho Green Stadium)
Promoted Nakumatt registered their maiden SportPesa Premier League win, and it did not matter it was against a fellow promoted side.
Experienced, international capped striker Kepha Aswani finished off KCB striker Joshua Oyoo’s feed in the third quarter.
The busy Oyoo then netted his own goal minutes later to end the contest.
Sony Sugar 1-0 Thika United (Awendo Green Stadium)
Sony Sugar recorded their second successive win.
They will have Amos Asembeka to thank for, his thunderous shot beating Thika custodian Eliud Emase all the way.
