Thika United ran in five goals, one answered against Mathare United as AFC Leopard prevailed upon Thika United in Sunday’s matches.

Ulinzi Stars 5-1 Mathare United (Afraha Stadium)

On-form midfielder Samuel Odhiambo started the Ulinzi onslaught with his second minute opener before veteran Stephen Waruru scored the match’s second goal and his third of the season from close range after connecting well with Oliver Rutto’s cross.

In the 15th minute, Waruru completed his brace and fourth of the current campaign, collecting a deflection off Brian Birgen’s earlier effort and slotting the ball past Mathare custodian Levis Opiyo.

Ten minutes later, Derrek Onyango delivered Mathare’s only goal in the match. But any hope of an unlikely comeback was snuffed out when Daniel Waweru converted a penalty in the 74th minute for the soldier’s fourth goal.

Second half Ulinzi replacement Enosh Ochieng had the last word in the match in the 80th minute, smashing a shot past the overwhelmed Opiyo to condemn Mathare to their heaviest defeat in recent times.

Thika United 1-2 AFC Leopards (Thika Stadium)

Ghanaian Gilbert Fiamenyo fired Ingwe in front in the 36th minute, weaving past three defenders before tucking the ball into the net in impeccable style. That was his third goal of the season.

0n 61 minutes Whyvonne Isuza doubled Leopards’ lead dribbling his way into the danger area before stunning goalkeeper Eliud Emase with a venomous shot that sailed in.

Thika’s Christopher Oruchum received a red card in the 84th minute after attracting a second yellow card for an infringement on Allan Katerrega inside the box.

Despite their one man disadvantage. Thika pulled a goal back in the 85th minute through second half substitute Salim Mzee who finished off a Eugene Mukangula cross.
