Mixed results for the big boys on Wednesday as Gor Mahia, Tusker, Ulinzi Stars notch up wins while AFC Leopards, Sofapaka fall in narrow losses.

Bandari 2-1 Nzoia Sugar (Mbaraki Sports Club)

Boniface Omondi scored his second goal in as many matches to give league debutante Nzoia United the lead in the 30th minute.

Wilberforce Lugogo replied for Bandari in the 61st with a corner kick that went straight in.

The coastal side secured the match winner on 70 minute when Andrew Waiswa got on the end of John Avira’s pass to blast the ball past the helpless Nzoia goalkeeper Mustafa Oduor.

The result ended the sugar millers’ five-match unbeaten run.

Gor Mahia 2-0 Chemelil Sugar (Thika Stadium)

Timothy Otieno scored his second goal of the season in the 13th minute of the match to put charging K’Ogalo in front.

Otieno, who scored the last goal in Gor’s 3-0 demolition of AFC Leopards last weekend, put the ball past the onrushing Chemelil custodian Jairus Adira.

Reigning league MVP midfielder Kenneth Muguna doubled the scores in the 40th minute after making the most of a loose ball after Adira had punched out Innocent Wafula’s effort.

The result now leaves Gor at the top of the table with 22 points, same as Posta Rangers, who drew on the day.

Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 Western Stima (Mumias Sports Complex)

Stima were completely outplayed by the hosts who raided their goal mouth at will and could have been beaten the power men by a bigger margin.

Estone Esiye powered home a free kick in the 15th minute to leave Stima rooted to the bottom of the SPL table.

Muhoroni Youth 1-1 Posta Rangers (Muhoroni Stadium)

Muhoroni threatened to end Posta Rangers impressive unbeaten run when Maxwell Onyango gave them the lead in the 25th minute.

Georson Likonoh however came through for the mail men midway through the second half after combining well with Joseph Kuria.

Posta have now gone 10 matches unbeaten, the only team in the league yet to taste defeat.

Nakumatt 2-1 Thika United (Ruaraka Grounds)

Saad Juma provided the assist for Onwudi Chibueze to put Thika ahead at the half hour mark before Clinton Kisiavuki leveled matters for Nakumatt in the 67th minute after connecting with Ronald Musana’s cross.

Nicholas Meja had the last word of the game with the winning goal in time added on.

Sofapaka 0-1 Ulinzi Stars (Kenyatta Stadium)

Daniel Waweru accounted for the all-important item in this match for Ulinzi Stars in the second half as the soldiers notched up their first back-to-back wins this season while Sofapaka fell to their second successive loss.

Sony Sugar 1-0 AFC Leopards (Awendo Green Stadium)

Justin Omari nodded home the winner in the 89th minute as Sony registered their first win in six games while condemning Leopards to their second straight loss.

Zoo 0-2 Tusker (Kericho Green Stadium)

Noah Wafula headed past Zoo Kericho goalkeeper Vincent Misikhu in the 24th minute to send the champions in front.

Lanky midfielder Humphrey Mieno doubled the scores for fast improving Tusker two minutes to the break, slipping past Zoo defenders William Obayi and Johnston Ligare to fire into the net.

The brewers have now won their last four matches and are undefeated in eight.
