Seven games have been lined up this weekend, with galloping league leaders Gor Mahia welcoming wobbly Bandari at home, second ranked Homeboyz visiting seasoned Ulinzi Stars in Nakuru and Sofapaka facing AFC Leopards in a juicy looking encounter. Champions Tusker rest this round.

Gor Mahia v Bandari (Moi Stadium, 3pm)

Gor Mahia sit pretty at the league table’s summit, and with an eight-point gap with just seven matches left to play.

Bandari have been blowing hot and cold in recent games, and are placed 10th on the log, 21 points below the league leaders.

While K’Ogalo come into this match on the back of a 10-match unbeaten record, the dockers have lost twice in a row at home, against Tusker and Chemelil Sugar.

Top Gor striker Jacques Tuyisenge, with eight goals to his name this season, missed a penalty in Gor’s 2-1 win over Sofapaka on Wednesday, and he will be looking to make amends in this match, it you know the man.

Bandari have proven Tanzanian striker Lewis Cosmas to count on.

The two sides have exchanged wins thus far this season, Gor beating the dockers 2-1 in the first league’s first leg encounter and the Mombasa-based team returning the favour 1-0 in the GOtv Shield round of 16.

SUNDAY

Posta Rangers v SonySugar (Thika County, 2pm)

Posta Rangers coach Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo will have to follow proceedings from the touchline following a three-match touchline ban meted out on him on Thursday by league’s disciplinary committee for violent conduct.

The postmen, considered championship material at the beginning of the season, have not won a game since August 2 and have dropped from second to sixth on the table.

Sony Sugar will need to quickly bounce back from their 2-0 loss to Kariobangi Sharks last weekend.

The sugar men have deadly Congolese striker Mwana Yema to turn to for their goal hunt.

Rangers beat Sony 1-0 in the first leg.

Thika United v Kariobangi Sharks (Thika Stadium, 4.15pm)

Belligerent Kariobangi Sharks will be looking to stretch their unbeaten run to eighth as they tackle relegation battling Thika.

Sharks will also be buoyed by their wonderful exploits in the GOtv Shield where they have booked a final berth after beating Sony Sugar 2-0 in Nakuru last weekend.

Thika striker Onwudi Chibueze remains doubtful with injury. The league debutants beat Thika 1-0 in their first leg meeting.

Chemelil Sugar v Mathare United (Chemelil Sports Complex, 1pm)

Two straight wins over Bandari and Nakumatt give Chemelil Sugar sufficient momentum to fancy their chances against their badly faded Nairobi-based opponents who are battling relegation.

The slum boys have in fact lost three of their last four games.

Mathare goalkeeper Wycliffe Kasaya continues to recuperate after undergoing knee surgery last month, leaving the duty of shielding the posts to young custodian Levis Opiyo.

The first leg match between these two teams ended in a barren stalemate.

Sofapaka v AFC Leopards (Narok County Stadium, 3pm)

Revenge will be in AFC Leopards’ mind for the 1-0 loss they suffered at the hands of Sofapaka’s in their first leg meeting in April.

Actually, the teams are separated by a mere two points meaning they have everything to fight for in as far as the positional tussle is concerned.

League top scorer Stephen Waruru on 11 goals, has not found the net in recent matches and will no doubt be keen to resume his normal service.
