Mathare United stun high riding Gor Mahia at Thika, Sofapaka come from behind to beat Bandari at Mbaraki, Posta Rangers strike twice to silence AFC Leopards at Narok as Kariobangi Sharks figh back to hold Chemelil Sugar at Kasarani in Saturday’s matches.

Mathare United 1-0 Gor Mahia (Thika Stadium)

Left winger Cliff Nyakeya set up recently capped international Chrispinus Oduor who powered a low shot into the bottom right corner of the net in the fifth minute.

A perfect start for the Slum Boys who held on to hand Gor Mahia their fourth loss of the season. Notably, Mathare were also doing a double on K’Ogalo, the only team to achieve this, this season.

AFC Leopards 0-2 Posta Rangers (Narok County Stadium, 3pm)

Posta Rangers captain and Kenya international Joackins Atudo beat AFC Leopards goalkeeper Ian Otieno at close range after just six minutes of play for the match opener.

Ingwe fell further behind in the 31st minute when their former player Dennis Mukaisi finished off a cross from Atudo much to the chagrin of coach Robert Matano.

The result ended Rangers’ 10-match winless streak.

Bandari 1-2 Sofapaka (Mbaraki Sports Club)

Edwin Lavatsa made a rare entry into the score sheet with his goal in the 24th minute from Fred Nkata’s delivery as the home side grabbed the lead.

Sofapaka cancelled that goal with interest in the second half.

Meshack Karani equalized midway through the second half after making the most of a goal mouth melee.

In the 85th minute, Batoto ba Mungu earned a penalty after Andrew Waiswa handled the ball inside the box, and Ugandan goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya made no mistake from the spot kick.

Kariobangi Sharks 2-2 Chemelil Sugar (Moi International Sports Centre)

Chemelil Sugar went one up in the 25th minute though Jeffrey Odeny’s easy tap-in before Collins Netto doubled their lead 13 minutes later.

But credit to the league first timers who battled like the great predators they are.

Ten minutes after the restart Sharks drew level through – who else? – reliable goal poacher Masoud Juma with a composed finish after Mathew Tayo had played him the assist ball.

That man Juma again levelled matters for Sharks in the 70th perfectly completing fellow international Patilla Omotto’s cross for his 10th goal of the season.

Zoo Kericho 0-0 Ulinzi Stars (Kericho Green Stadium)

Ulinzi Stars controlled most the proceedings in this match but just could not collect the statistic that mattered.

The point earned moved Zoo Kericho from 11th to 13th on the SportPesa Premier League table, as the soldiers also moved one place up to fourth place.
