Nakumatt FC were the only winners of the day as four Round 3 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) matches were played across different stadia on Saturday 17th February.

Nzoia 0-1 Nakumatt FC

Brian Nyakan is proving to be a good signing for Nakumatt FC as his strike in the 57th minute was all the team needed to beat Nzoia Sugar FC in a match played at Sudi, his second goal of the season so far in two appearances.

Ulinzi Stars 0-0 Mathare United

Ulinzi Stars were held to a barren draw by the visiting Mathare United in a match played at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru. Cliff Nyakeya thought he had gifted the Slum Boys the opening goal in the 10th minute, heading in a beautiful cross from the right flank by Daniel Mwaura but this was disallowed for offside.

Mwaura was constantly proving to be threat to the Army Men with his clever runs but the Mathare forwards failed to capitalize on his crosses. Ulinzi Stars brought in Elvis Nandwa for Justin Onwonga after the restart in an obvious attempt to sharpen their attack.

Ulinzi Stars could have opened the scoring in the 62nd minute but Mathare United David Owino cleared the ball for safety after a goal mouth melee. The Slum Boys won a free kick just outside the box in the 83rd minute after Bernard Ongoma’s tackle on Daniel Mwaura but Francis Omondi blasted the resultant free kick wide.

Both teams made changes towards the end of the match; Mathare introducing highly rated youngster Ahmed Ahmad for Edward Seda and resting Clifford Alwanga for Chris Ochieng while Ulinzi’s Oscar Wamalwa came in for Masita Masuta. The changes had no impact on the final result of the match as it ended in a barren draw.

Chemelil 1-1 Kariobangi Sharks

Chemelil Sugar had Amani Peter to thank as he rescued a point for them at the death against Kariobangi Sharks in a match played at the Chemelil Complex. After a goalless first half, Erick Kapaito gave the visitors the lead in the 67th minute, his second of the season so far, and they managed to hold on to the lead until Amani scored the equalizer.

Wazito 0-0 Kakamega Homeboyz

Wazito FC and Kakamega Homeboyz played to a barren draw in an evenly balanced match played at the Camp Toyoyo in Nairobi. Homeboyz’s Smith Ouko yellow card in the 88th minute was the only booking of the match.
