The SportPesa Premier League entered Round 23 with four exciting matches played on Saturday 14th July. Kariobangi Sharks were the biggest winners of the day as they whipped Tusker FC 5-2 at the Camp Toyoyo while Wazito FC and Mathare United drew 3-3, AFC Leopards and Bandari played to a barren draw while Kakamega Homeboyz equalised late to salvage a point against Thika United at Bukhungu.

Kariobangi Sharks 5-2 Tusker FC 

Kariobangi Sharks were in a mood to play some good football, and they did turn up the style at the Camp Toyoyo on Saturday afternoon, hammering Tusker FC 5-2 in the process. Henry Juma opened the scoring as early in the 2nd minute for Sharks, a lead they held on until the 45th minute when Timothy Otieno leveled the scores for the Brewers from the spot.

Henry Juma restored Sharks’ lead in the 52nd minute with a well taken strike and just four minutes later, Eric Kapaito, returning from injury scored the third. John Kamau pulled one back for Tusker at the hours mark but Kapaito was in the mood to score and he did grab his second in the 73rd minute. Harrison Mwendwa finished the job in the 77th minute with a cool finish after he was set up by Patilah Omoto.

Mathare United 3-3 Wazito 

Mathare United and Wazito played to an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Derrick Onyango opened the scoring for Wazito in the 10th minute but the Slum Boys leveled at the half hours mark through Cliff Nyakeya but Edwin Lavatsa restored Wazito’s lead moments later.

Derrick Onyango grabbed his brace in the 54th minute with a confident finish past Mathare custodian in the 54th minute. Nyakenya reduced the deficit once again in the 72nd minute. Midseason acquisition Klinton Omulanga beat Martin Musalia with a thunderous shot with just a minute left to play to ensure Mathare rescue a point against a hardworking Wazito FC who remain rooted at the bottom of the log after the result.

Kakamega Homeboyz 1-1 Thika United 

Promising youngster James Kinyanjui’s goal for Thika United in the 13th minute was cancelled out by Benjamin Okech in the 56th minute as Kakamega Homeboyz and Thika United played to a one-all draw at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

AFC Leopards 0-0 Bandari 

AFC Leopards SC and Bandari shared spoils in a barren draw at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
