Sony Sugar, Posta Rangers and AFC Leopards picked wins over Mathare United, Wazito FC and Vihiga United respectively in some of the Round 24 SportPesa Premier League matches played on Sunday 29th July across different venues.

Mathare United 0-2 Sony Sugar FC 

Mathare United went down 0-2 to a rejuvenated Sony Sugar FC in an entertaining match played at the Camp Toyoyo in Nairobi. Youngster Tobias Otieno grabbed a brace in the 4th and 37th minute to secure an important win for the visitors and it could have been more were it not for the missed chances.

After the result, Mathare drops to sixth on the log with 35 points from 24 matches while Sony is 13th with 27 points having played the same number of matches.

Vihiga United 0-1 AFC Leopards 

A 31st minute strike by Marvin Nabwire was all AFC Leopards needed to edged out Vihiga United at the Mumias Sports Complex. The youngster was however pulled out earlier in the second half due to injury. AFC remains fourth on the log with 39 points having played 24 matches.

Wazito FC 2-3 Posta Rangers 

Posta Rangers compounded Wazito woes with a 3-2 win in another entertaining match played at the Camp Toyoyo. Cavin Odongo opened the scoring for Posta Rangers in the 13th minute with a cool finish but Edwin Lavatsa equalized at the half hour’s mark, heading in Joachim Omollo’s cross. Lavatsa turned provider in the 51st minute, bringing in a delightful cross for new signing Priscus Muhindo to head in powerfully.

Likono double 

It took Posta Ranger’s just two minutes to level scores, Gearson Likono sending in a bullet header to make it 2-2 and he scored the winner in almost similar fashion at the hour’s mark, a half volley that ensured the Mail Men pick the maximum points.

“It was a very difficult game and Wazito were very good today. We were under pressure especially after losing to Gor Mahia in our last match. We needed the three points and I am glad we got them. We created a lot of chances and utilised most of them – that makes me happy. Likono was also very outstanding today. Ulinzi Stars 0-0 Nzoia Sugar FC 

Ulinzi Stars and Nzoia Sugar FC played to a barren draw in a match played at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru. The Soldiers are fifth on the log with 37 points from 23 matches while Nzoia are eleventh with 28 points having played the same number of matches.

Zoo FC 1-1 Kakamega Homeboyz 

Zoo FC and Kakamega Homeboyz played to a 0ne-all draw in a match played at the Green Stadium in Kericho. Isaac Kipyegon opened the scoring for the homeside in the 1st minute but Kakamega’s midseason acquisition Masakidi Mata leveled the scores in the 13th minute.

Tusker FC vs Sofapaka (rained off)

The Tusker FC vs Sofapaka was rained off in the 17th minute at the Ruaraka Stadium. The game will be replayed at the same venue on Monday 30th July at the same venue from 10AM.
