David Juma winner

David Juma, signed during the midseason transfer window from second-tier side Bidco United, scored the winner just two minutes later, tapping in a Timothy Otieno assist.

“We congratulate Tusker for the win although I was not impressed with level of the performance. It is a wake up call to us and we will go back to the drawing board and work on our mistakes. The players know what our targets are and we have to fight until the end.” – Sofapaka Coach, John Baraza

Prior to this match, Tusker had not beaten Sofapaka since 2016. This is only their third win over Batoto Ba Mungu and Head Coach Robert Matano was over the moon terming the overall performance as good. He also reserved praises for striker Timothy Otieno who grabbed a goal and an assist in the match.

“We are happy we picked the three points and broke the jinx in the process. We had prepared very well for this match and I am glad we won. I hope we can carry on with this kind of performance in the remaining matches. Timothy is one of our senior players and he did well today.” – Tusker FC coach, Robert Matano
