Nine matches will be played as the SportPesa Premier League enters Round 28 on the weekend of 25 – 26 August with the Mashemeji Derby set to be played on Saturday 26th August the highlight.

Gor Mahia vs AFC Leopards – Kasarani – 4PM

Gor Mahia hosts rivals AFC Leopards on Saturday afternoon in what will be 84th league meeting between the two. Ingwe has won 27 with Gor winning 25 of these meetings.

Ingwe will miss seven key players for the derby; Dennis Sikhayi, Robinson Kamura, Abdallah Salim, Moses Mburu, Jaffari Owiti and Marvin Nabwire who are all injured while Ezekiel Odera, who is their leading scorer with 12 goals, is suspended. Head Coach Rodoldo Zapata however exudes confidence ahead of the derby saying his team is ready for the battle.

“Missing 7 players is bad news. This is like 70% of my first squad but I have a great group of players and tactical solutions to cover up. We are ready to fight and play good football. We can win or lose, but my team will never negotiate about good football, winning attitude and 100% effort.” – AFC Leopards Head Coach, Rodolfo Zapata

“I respect Gor Mahia but we are AFC Leopards and obviously want to win. We have a huge commitment to our fans as a club and I also have a personal commitment to them. We will give it our best and fans should expect an exciting game. The first 20 minutes will be the key.” He concluded.

Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr has urged his players to make history by winning the league on Saturday. A win for K’Ogalo will handle them their 17th league title.

“I want my players to go out there and enjoy themselves as they try to get a healthy result against our rivals. This is their only real chance to become Gor Mahia legends and they have to work hard for it. They have a chance to do it in front of a big crowd and no amount of money can hand them such a lifetime opportunity.” – Gor Mahia FC Head Coach, Dylan Kerr

The coach also revealed he has no injury concerns heading into the match. Wesley Onguso, who limped off in the team’s 3-0 win over Sofapaka on Wednesday in Narok is back and in contention for a starting berth.
