Eight matches were played across different venues as the SportPesa Premier League Round 17 action culminated over the weekend. 

Saturday 9th March 

Posta Rangers 0-0 Kariobangi Sharks 

Posta Rangers and Kariobangi Sharks played to a barren draw in a match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Tusker FC 1-2 AFC Leopards

AFC Leopards beat Tusker FC 2-1 in an entertaining match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos from 4:15 PM. Both teams finished with a man less as AFC Leopards’ Isaac Kipyegon was sent off in the 37th minute with Tusker winger Boniface Muchiri receiving his marching orders 15 minutes to the stoppage time.

After a goalless first half, Rwandese striker Wayi Yeka gave Ingwe the lead in the 69th minute and Vincent Oburu doubled the lead in the 72nd minute. Rwandese Amini Muzerwa pulled one back for the Brewers in the 81st minute.

This was Tusker FC’s defender Lloyd Wahome’s last match after plying his trade for the Brewers for 6 and a half seasons. He is on his way to National Super League side Wazito FC.

Sony Sugar FC 1-0 Mt Kenya United 

Sony Sugar beat Mt Kenya United by a solitary goal at the Green Stadium in Awendo, Derrick Otanga scoring the lone goal.

Chemelil Sugar FC 0-3 Sofapaka 

Chemelil Sugar succumbed to a 0-3 loss in the hands of Sofapaka at the Chemelil Sports Complex. Piston Mutamba struck twice while Stephen Waruru scored the other as the visitors picked the three maximum points.

Mathare United 0-0 Western Stima

Mathare United and Western Stima played to a barren draw at the Moi International Sports Center in Kasarani.

Sunday 10th March

KCB FC 2-0 Nzoia Sugar FC

KCB’s uprising continued as they edged Nzoia Sugar 2-0 in a match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Bethwel Warambo opened the scoring just before halftime and Chris Onyango doubled the lead in the 53rd minute.

Vihiga United 2-1 Zoo FC 

Vihiga United beat Zoo FC 2-1 in a match played at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega. Christopher Masinza gave the home side the lead in the 12th minute tapping in an Amos Kigadi cross.  Dennis Wafula doubled the lead in the 68th minute after a swift counter-attack. Zoo pulled one back through Danson Chetambe in the 85th minute from the spot after Geoffrey Gichana was brought down in the box.

Ulinzi Stars 2-1 Bandari

Ulinzi Stars surprised Bandari 2-1 in a match played at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru. After a scoreless first half, Enosh Ochieng gave the home side the lead in the 54th minute after Bernard Odhiambo brought down Ezekiel Okare in the box. Yema Mwana, however, levelled for Bandari in the 69th minute but Okare’s goal in the 85th minute ensured the soldiers pick the maximum points.
