Gor Mahia were officially handed the 2018 SportPesa Premier League trophy at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu after their 2-2 draw against Mathare United on Sunday 30th September. 

Gor Mahia 2-2 Mathare United

Jacques Tuyisenge opened the scoring for champions in the ninth minute, connecting to a brilliant Raphael Asudi pass to score his 14th goal of the season. Humphrey Mieno doubled the lead in the 53rd minute with a sublime goal from the edge of the box but this seemed to have awakened Mathare as they upped their tempo.

Mathare United coach Francis Kimanzi pulled out the ineffective Alphonce Ndonye and introduced the speedy Daniel Mwaura in the 55th minute and he turned provider in the 66th minute, setting up Klinsman Omulanga to pull one back for the Slum Boys. Cliff Nyakeya leveled matters in the 77th minute from the spot after Klinsman Omulanaga was fouled in the box by Joash Onyango.

Wazito 2-1 Bandari

Already relegated Wazito FC beat Bandari FC 2-1 in an entertaining match played at the Camp Toyoyo on Sunday afternoon. Derrick Onyango and John Mutua scored Wazito’s goals while Bandari got their lone goal through William Wadri.

Nzoia Sugar 0-1 Tusker FC

David Juma goal in the 83rd minute was all that separated Nzoia Sugar FC and Tusker FC in match played at the Sudi Stadium in Bungoma.

Posta Rangers 0-2 Sony Sugar FC 

Meshack Karani came off the bench to score a second-half brace and steer Sony Sugar FC to a 2-0 win over Posta Rangers in a fiercely contested match played at the Camp Toyoyo.

Sofapaka 2-2 Nakumatt FC

At the Narok Stadium, Sofapaka and Nakumatt played to an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Ulinzi 2-1 AFC Leopards

AFC Leopards woes continued as Ulinzi handed them a 2-1 beating at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru. Elvis Nandwa put the soldiers ahead as early in the second minute, grabbing his 12th goal of the season. Duncan Ochieng restored parity for Ingwe in the 51st minute but substitute Enosh Ochieng restored Ulinzi’s lead 10 minutes later.

Vihiga United 3-3 Kariobangi Sharks 

Vihiga United and Kariobangi Sharks played to a 3-3 draw at the Mumias Sports Complex. Eric Kapaita grabbed a brace with Sidney Simale scored the other for Sharks.

Thika United 1-2 Zoo FC 

At the Thika Sub County Stadium, Zoo FC secured top-flight status for another season with a hard fought 2-1 win over already relegated Thika United. Zoo got their goals courtesy of Nicholas Kipkirui and Bernard Odhiambo while Thika’s lone goal was scored by Michael Odongo.
