Gor Mahia edged Bandari 1-0 to win the 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Super Cup in an entertaining match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday afternoon.

After a goalless first half, Lawrence Juma’s hard shot from the edge of the box hit Bandari defender Brian Otieno to deflect past custodian Michael Wanyika into the net.

Despite the win, Gor Mahia tactician Steven Pollack said the team still has work to do; “We were not good at all in the first half but we did well after the break. I am happy we won the game and also with the second-half performance but we have to improve in our transition as well as keeping the ball. The players now understand how I want them to play and that is a good start.”

Bandari Head Coach lamented on the team’s finishing; “The best team lost. Gor Mahia got one chance and they scored and that is what matters in football. I am still not impressed with our finishing – that is an area we have to improve on.”
