The 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season kicked off with Posta Rangers edging Sofapaka 2-1 at the Narok Stadium while Kariobangi Sharks and Western Stima played to an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Friday 30th August. 

Sofapaka 1-2 Posta Rangers 

Sammy “Pamzo” Omolo’s return at Posta Rangers kicked off on a positive note as the Mail Men edged Sofapaka 2-1. Elli Asieche opened the scoring for Batoto Ba Mungu from the spot in the 27th minute but Gearson Likono leveled matters two minutes after the breather. Eliud Lokuwam won it for the Mail Men at the hour mark, tapping in Jackson Dwang’s freekick.

Kariobangi Sharks 2-2 Western Stima 

Kennedy Owino, acquired from Sony Sugar FC, put Stima in the lead in the 14th minute of the match, heading in Erastus Mwaniki’s cross. 2018 MVP Eric Kapaito leveled the scores in the 28th minute. Patrick Otieno, acquired from Nzoia Sugar FC headed Sharks into the lead for the first time but Shaphan Oyugi fouled James Ogada in the box a minute to stoppage time. Stima custodian Samuel Odhiambo sent Geoffrey Oyemba the wrong way in the resultant penalty.
