All top four teams dropped points in round 25 of the SportPesa Premier League, but Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr was unperturbed as they maintained their nine-point advantage. But chasing Sofapaka, Ulinzi are snapping at the league leaders, stating loudly and clearly, it ‘aint’ over yet.

Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr: “I can see the light at the end of the tunnel in some way, but I am not thinking about the title (drew 0-0 with Thika United). Right now it’s about winning games and getting to know the formation that works best for the team. I have only been here two months and it takes time to know these things. Such results are a reminder that it will not be an easy walk to the finish line, and I want to see more from Karim Nizigiyimana, I want to see more from Walusimbi and Medie Kagere. They are international players.”

Posta Rangers coach Sammy Omollo: “We should have killed the game in the first three minutes (drew 0-0 with Ulinzi Stars). (John) Nairuka had a one-against-one chance and later created two more chances that we couldn’t bury. It’s tough going seven games without a win. Today I thought I tried something different in the second half with the changes, but unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side.”

Ulinzi Stars Benjamin Nyangweso: “Any slump in our run is an advantage to Gor so we need to win (drew 0-0 with Posta Rangers). A draw away from home is a plus but not good result for us who want to be champions. I think we could have bagged all the points had we converted our chances in the second half.”

Sofapaka coach Sam Ssimbwa: Sharks are a good side (drew 0-0 with Kariobangi Sharks). They have talented players, at times tricky to beat, but the draw was not my wish because I wanted to reduce the gap between us and Gor Mahia. We created more chances in the second half but we were just unlucky. We still have nine matches to go. We have to continue fighting until the end. The title race is far from over.”

Kariobangi sharks coach William Muluya: It is obvious that Masoud Juma’s absence was felt (drew 0-0 with Sofapaka). Juma could have put away at least two goals from the chances we created, but unfortunately he was suspended.”

Zoo Kericho coach Sammy Okoth: “We played in very hot weather and this affected my players (lost 3-0 to Bandari). That is why we conceded two simple goals early in the match, and this forced the players to use even more energy as they struggled to correct the mistake. We were also missing one key player, Nicholas Kipkurui. Kipkurui is a playmaker who is also very good with dead balls, and his absence was really felt in the game.”

Nzoia Sugar coach Bernard Mwalala: “We may have won, but we did not play well (beat Muhoroni Youth 3-1). I am not sure if it is exhaustion after also playing on Wednesday but they looked quite lethargic. The good thing is that we made use of the chances we created but generally our performance wasn’t the best. I am, however, happy that we managed the three points. We shall now recover and restrategise ahead of our next match against Zoo Kericho.”

Bandari coach Paul Nkata: “The credit should go to the players, not myself (beat Zoo Kericho 3-0). They have endured a poor run but today they picked themselves up and got back to winning ways. We changed nothing in our training regimen. We stuck to our usual plan as well as our formation in the game. It is only the players who came with a more determined approach. They were more serious and more determined and they got results.”
