Gor Mahia relentlessly moved closer to regaining the league title after thumping Bandari 3-1 at Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Saturday.

Kenya international Francis Kahata, with his sweet left foot, crashed the ball into the net to give Gor the lead late in the first half.

Hugely productive Medie Kagere, increasing a crowd favourite of the Green Army, then doubled the scores for the hosts on 57th minute, intercepting a wayward pass from Bandari defender Felly Mulumba to stab home. That goal raised Kagere’s season tally in the league to 10, just one less than top scorer Stephen Waruru of Ulinzi Stars.

Gor were in no nonsense mood as Wellington Ochieng stretched their lead to three in the 71st minute with a glancing header.

Against the run of play Michael Apudo pulled one goal back for Bandar seven minutes to time.

Gor have now stretched their lead atop the league table to 11 points and on this account will take some stopping to be denied the 2017 title.

At a slippery –blame it on the rains – Sudi Stadium in Bungoma, Nzoia Sugar battled to a barren draw with Western Stima.
