AFC Leopards 1-1 Kariobangi Sharks

AFC Leopards had Whyvonne Isuza to thank as his last minute goal from the spot after Michael Bodo handled the ball in the box ensured they share spoils with Kariobangi Sharks at the Thika Sub County Stadium.

After a goalless first half, Sharks introduced the speedy Francis Manoah for Sidney Simale in the 70th minute and the youngster headed in Patilah Omoto’s freekick just seven minutes later. A slight lapse in concentration in the box that led to Bodo handling the ball in the box, Whyvonne Isuza stepping up to beat Sharks custodian John Oyemba for the equalizer.

“We were poor in the first half and struggled especially upfront. Vincent Oburu likes dropping down to the flanks and this meant we played without a centre forward. I had to make changes and we improved in the second half. However we have struggled to get goals in our recent matches and it is something that we have to improve on.” – Dennis Kitambi, AFC Leopards coach

“We were in control of the match but luck was not on our side. However I thank my players, they tried their best. Our keeper (John Oyembo) was particularly outstanding, but he is just doing what he is supposed to be doing and I hope he keeps at it.” – William Muluya, Kariobangi Sharks coach
